Hi, I'm Maisie, a travel designer, adventure lover and the person behind Quills & Crossings.
I've never been a sit-on-the-beach kind of traveller. I'd much rather be out exploring, which is how we ended up lost in Majorca and stumbled onto a little market we had no idea was there. Another time, a wrong turn down a woodland track led us straight to a magnificent waterfall. Those unplanned moments are the ones I remember most.
That's the kind of travel I love, and the kind I write about. I'm always curious to learn something new, whether it's hidden in the landscape or tucked away in a town's history. My books wander through history, landscape, legend and lived experience, for travellers who want more than a list of attractions. I've left the occasional wrong turn in, because those often become the best part.
Maps, Myths & Mildly Lost covers England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, with some special journeys still to come. Over on the blog, I share destination stories, practical ideas and places worth crossing a map for.
